Council Rock Coalition for Healthy Youth Presents Award Winning Documentary
Local Advocates Address Resilience and Post Pandemic Mental Health in Adolescents
NEWTOWN, PA (April 8, 2024) – Council Rock Coalition for Healthy Youth (CRCHY), a community organized non-profit whose mission is to support parents in reducing risky behaviors in youth, and help them reach full potential in healthy environments, is proud to announce the third installment of the very popular “Screenagers” films as part of their “Raising Great Kids” series of interactive programming offered free of charge for adults to attend.
Screenagers – NEXT CHAPTER: Addressing Youth Mental Health in the Digital Age is a film that examines the science behind teen’s emotional challenges, the interplay of social media, and most importantly, what can be done in our schools and homes to help them build crucial skills to navigate stress, anxiety, and depression. It has been featured on PBS NewsHour, the Today Show, Good Morning America, the New York Times, and more.
In NEXT CHAPTER, the filmmaker (Dr. Delaney Ruston) finds herself at a loss on how to help her own teens as they struggle with their emotional wellbeing. She tries to understand these challenges, and how parents and educators can empower teens to overcome mental health challenges and build emotional agility, communication savvy, and stress resilience.
Covering an array of different stories from a wide sampling of families with a spectrum of challenges, we see approaches in schools that prove relevant beyond the classroom, surprising insights from cognitive researchers, psychologists, and thought leaders that reveal evidence-based methods to support mental wellness.
This special screening will be on April 17, 2024, from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm* at the Newtown Middle School (116 Richboro Newtown Road, Newtown, PA 18940) and will be introduced by CRCHY President Francine E. Block. The session wraps up after the film with a live Q&A featuring licensed psychologist – Dr. Deborah Van Aken, PHD and a representative from the school district.
The event is completely FREE, and all members of the public are invited and encouraged to attend. CRCHY is joined by sponsors PAStart, Council Rock Education Foundation, CPA, and Jefferson Health in presenting this evening of information and discussion. Pre-Registration is not required but is suggested to ensure that enough resources are made available for everyone. Please use THIS FORM to sign up to attend.
